The annual number of recorded cases of bacterial food poisoning in England and Wales has risen from around 10,000 per year in 1980 to around 50,000 in 1995. As many cases go unreported this is undoubtedly just the tip of the iceberg. The considerable public concern in the late 1980s about the increasing incidence of food-borne infection was one of the principal factors which led to The Food Safety Act 1990. Food manufacturers and producers under the act are required to show due diligence.

Precision Analysis can take care of all the microbiological aspects of your due diligence defence from designing an effective sampling regime to rapid reporting of high counts and positive results.

An effective due diligence defence includes microbiological assessment of:
  • Enumeration of Spoilage Organisms
  • Presence or Absence of Food Poisoning Organisms
  • HACCP Analysis
  • Product Shelf Life
  • Water Quality
  • Product Storage Conditions

Efficient monitoring in the food manufacturing industry is now an essential requirement. Precision Analysis can help you to maximise profit, minimise health risk to consumers and produce a consistent high quality product. Our dedicated microbiology laboratory routinely carries out a comprehensive range of analyses including the following tests:

Food Poisioning Salmonella spp Food Spilage Yeasts and Moulds
Organisms Campylobcater spp
Listeria spp
Staphylococcus aureus
Clostridium perfringens
E.coli: 0157
Organisms Pseudomonas spp
Lactic acid bacteria

Indicator Escherichia coli
Organisms Faecal streptococci
Coliforms
Total Viable Count

We can provide microbiological screening of various foods including meat products, poultry, pies, cheese, ready meals etc. Customer complaint samples can be analysed to assess the likelihood of a product being responsible for food poisoning and we can provide information as well as give advice on interpretation of results.
